The founding fathers of GLM are Dimitris Pefanis and Michael Iakovidis.

Dimitris Pefanis (MA), co-founder and content director of Greek Liberties Monitor (www.liberties.gr) is an award winning journalist and columnist for print and online publications based in Greece. He has been covering financial and banking issues for the last 12years and won the Citi Journalistic Excellence Award in 2013. He received his BA in Journalism in 1999 from Panteion University (Athens, Greece) and his MA in Multimedia Journalism in 2000 from Emerson College (Boston, MA).

Michael Iakovidis has experienced first hand what it means to be a small business owner in Greece. Living as a quarter Scottish, quarter English, two quarters Greek has offered him a unique perspective on Greek society. He holds a Beng and MSc in Civil Engineering as well as an Executive MBA. Currently active in European liberal affairs, he is one of the coordinators of the individual members of ALDE for Greece, and firmly believes that financial freedom and free markets being established in  Greece are crucial for the propagation of liberties in Greece.

GLM also has a staff of two permanent associates; journalist Kostas Ketsietzis and political analyst Katerina Polyzou, and long term collaboration with external associates in various fields (ranging from academics, graphic designers, journalists, analysts etc.) and is working on establishing an international network of collaborations.

Katerina Polyzou became interested in politics from a young age, and decided to complete her Bachelor degree in International and European Studies. After her stay in Sweden where she continued with a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies she decided to become more engaged in political affairs. She is an active ALDE Party individual member and supports the strengthening of European cooperation firmly.

We firmly believe that the lack of liberties in Greece are at the root of the Greek crisis and the multiple problems plaguing Greek society. These are not talked about and create great economic, political and social upheaval.

We wish to change that.
